Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Very yummy Malaysian food. I ordered the egg noodles and my friend had the beef Nasi lamek. Both meals were delicious and filling. The price of the meals is really affordable and the food is really good quality. The owner was really friendly and the food came out within 5-10 minutes. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that we weren’t offered a menu when we came in (just shown you the table), and even after the meals came out, we weren’t offered any water either."
"A Malaysian eatery in the heart of Glenferrie, Laksa Garden offers a wide selection of classic Malaysian dishes. I found the pickle fish head vermicelli in soup a bit on the bland side, and my partner's fried kuay teow was also quite oily. We were also surprised the restaurant charges an extra $1 for chilli when it's a standard free condiment in many Malaysian restaurants. Update: we gave Laksa Garden another try and this time, ordered the Combination Laksa ($16.80) and the Hainanese Chicken Rice ($16.80). The Laksa is definitely the dish to try with its rich, aromatic coconut broth. A shout-out to the wonderful young lady staff member who chased us across the road to Coles to return our shopping bag that we left behind."
"Nice cosy restaurant if you are keen for Asian food. We had laksa and Hainese chicken which were quite tasty. The food was also served quickly which was a bonus especially if you are around for a quick bite to eat."
"Nice location in Glenferrie but a bit hard to find a car park Very good atmosphere good service We ordered Hainanese Chicken rice, Har mee noodles soup and Roti with satay sauce. There are not a lot of Laksa options (even the restaurant name is Laksa garden ) We didn’t wait too long to get the food, the food tasted not bad"
"I think they might have changed ownership? Food used to be fairly priced, but still very delicious. It stinks a little at the back of the restaurant on the way to the restroom, perhaps cleaning the area would make the overall dining experience better."
"My friend chose this spot to experiment as it's close to her work and we were pleasantly surprised. I was quickly taken to the courtyard as the front was full. The menu had a range of Laksas and traditional Malaysian fare but we couldn't go past their namesake. My soft shell crab Laksa was lip smacking good because the broth was so creamy with coconut milk/cream. The crab was crunchy, the noodles chewy but tender, and the eggplant soaked up the flavours and disintegrated in the mouth. My friend also enjoyed her Combination Laksa. There was only one other table in the courtyard; the heater was off and the air was chilly - not so thoughtful in the middle of winter. Conclusion: delicious Laksas, more considerate service would've got more stars."
"I ordered the soft shell crab and rice noodles fries with egg gravy - very yummy! The price and quantity are very"
"I visited Laksa Garden recently and had a wonderful experience. From the warm welcome to the vibrant dishes, everything felt genuine and full of flavour. My top three picks: their rich, coconut-based laksa with prawns and eggplant, the crispy roti canai served with curry dip, and the fragrant beef rendang with steamed rice. What truly sets Laksa Garden apart is its authentic Malaysian soul fresh ingredients, well-balanced spice and a relaxing courtyard vibe. Highly recommend for anyone craving a comforting, flavour-packed meal in Hawthorn."
